Eda Benjakul is an award-winning director and Emmy-winning and multi-nominated producer. She crafts emotionally resonant young adult, women's empowerment, and intergenerational narratives across documentary and scripted formats, bringing humor, heart, and character depth to a variety of platforms.

Her documentary short Home Restaurant won Best Documentary Short at the Sonoma and California International Film Festivals and screened at the Oscar-qualifying AmDocs Film Festival, earning Telly Awards for Directing and Social Impact. A feature-length version premieres on PBS in 2026. She has also worked on unscripted television with notables ranging from Oprah and Martha Stewart to MrBeast, and won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lifestyle Program as studio director of Naturally, Danny Seo (NBC).

She was nominated for a News Emmy for The Survivors, an L.A. Times series on Holocaust survivors, and directed The Last Generation, a hybrid animated short in which teenagers engage with survivors about antisemitism and memory. Her historical drama Star of Siam was a Sundance Episodic Lab finalist and Stowe Story Lab Fellow.

As a scripted director, Eda centers women at life's turning points and coming-of-age stories rooted in lived experience. She co-created and directed Ex-Wives of Beverly Hills — winner of the Audience Award for Best Short Film, Best Episodic Project (Independent Film Society), and Best Web Series (L.A. Women Independent Filmmakers). She wrote and directed the web series Shrinking Violet, and her debut short Ugly Sweet premiered at New Filmmakers New York and the California Women's Film Festival.

She is co-founder of Best DirectHer (DGA) and holds degrees from the University of Michigan and NYU.
